““A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.””
John 13:34-35

When I think about someone being known for how they love others, I can’t help but think of Mother Theresa and the vast impact she had on the world. I remember coming across a quote from her years ago when she was asked how to start making such an impact as she did, and she said, “Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time and always start with the person nearest you.” She got that same principle from Jesus’ example as He stayed focused on the mission God the Father had sent Him on.

Amidst his own disciples wishing He’d quickly overthrow the government and bring about political change in the land, Jesus focused on loving the world to the point of death on a cross to free us from captivity, even more oppressive than the political regime of their day. If I’m honest with myself, I know it’s not a matter of if, but who God’s placed in my life to model Christ’s love to through both my actions and my words.

Lord, please cultivate a contagious love for You that would overflow to those You’ve placed around me. May others see more of You the more they see and get to know me.
