“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
Psalm 23:4-5
“But now, this is what the LORD says--he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.’”
Isaiah 43:1-2

Rules for My Life

Rule Number 2 – I do not resist my life situation or circumstances.

This rule keeps me focused on my walk with the Lord. It is, in part, through my circumstances that God speaks to me and helps me understand what He is doing in my environment. My life situation is continually changing and the events are usually outside of my control. The Lord within me never changes. He is constant, His ways are unchanging and He always has everything under control. I trust him absolutely because He alone is unconditionally trustworthy. When I try to figure things out on my own and fight my circumstances, I have no likelihood of succeeding because my attention is drawn away from the Lord who is the solution to all of my problems. The distractions are infinite and will have me focusing on things of which I have no control. By walking in the light of the Lord’s presence, He gives me a perspective to observe events, people and projects with an understanding that helps me navigate the conditions that surround me. By setting my mind on things above and not on earthly things, my focus is always in the Kingdom of Light. From there I discover what is really important and eternal. I know that in the world I am going to face trouble because it is dominated by people who are controlled by their egos. By humbling myself and surrendering myself to the Lord I acknowledge His authority in my life which gives me an abiding sense of His presence continually.
