“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.”
Colossians 3:1
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”
1 John 2:15-17

Rules for My Life

Rule Number 3 – I do not attach myself to anything in the world.

This rule keeps me from distractions so that I can focus my attention on the Lord’s presence in my life. Everything I have has been given to me from Him and all that I am is a steward over it. I continually surrender myself and all I have to the Lord because that enables me to maintain freedom from the bondage of things. This also helps me to be content because He has provided everything I need. Another benefit of not being attached to anything in the world is that I am able to put all of my expectations in the Lord and trust that He will accomplish His will in my life. I am not disappointed if something is taken away from me because I know that He has a purpose for me that doesn’t require me to have it. The freedom I experience by having this attitude in my heart is incredibly liberating. It simplifies my life and helps me see the events that happen around me with a clear perspective.
