I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself. You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant, ‘I will establish your line forever and make your throne firm through all generations.’
Psalm 89:1-4

Every year we buy a real tree, and I loathe putting lights on it. But what I do enjoy is hanging the ornaments. All our ornaments tell a story. Without even realizing it, we take each one, and as a family, we reminisce where we got it, who bought it for us, and the meaning it holds. This sweet tradition began when I was a little girl.

Almost every year, I would get a personalized ornament that represented me. So now, I do the same for our kids. I put a great deal of thought into finding the perfect ornament for each family member. I want it to depict either their personality, a milestone, or maybe a current interest. My goal is for them to look back at their collection and remember different snapshots of their life. Our tree represents our family. If we had never met, you could look at our tree and learn what our family loves, our talents, our hobbies, etc.… The story our tree tells matters because it’s the one we’re going to tell the next generation.
