“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:45
“For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.”
2 Corinthians 4:5

As a child I had great role models on serving by watching my mom and dad. They went out of their way to help other people. When my mom was in her late eighties she was serving meals to Senior Adults at their monthly gathering at the church to which she belonged.

There are many ways people serve one another in the church. It is the implementation of the Golden Rule that tells us to do for others what we want others to do for us. When we serve others we are letting our lights shine and God is glorified.

Jesus is the best example we have of someone serving other people. He made the ultimate act of service when He gave Himself on the cross as a ransom for the sins of the world. During his ministry He healed the sick, raised the dead, fed the thousands and much, much more.

Our focus should not be on being served, but in serving others. There are always opportunities for us to give of ourselves to bless others. They’re all around us.
