What day is it?
Have you lost track of time? I have! Our day looks a little bit different now than it did a month ago. What are you doing with your free time? Regardless of how you spend your day, God wants us to make time for Him. We are never too young to start having a Quiet Time. A Quiet Time is time set apart for just you and Jesus. It can look a bunch of different ways. You can read the bible, read this daily devotional, work on our memory verse, pray…God LOVES spending time with you because you are His favorite.
From normal to abnormal.
Overnight our world changed. Our schedules changed, our routine changed, everything changed. Ask yourself, “How am I doing with all of this change?” Some of us really like change; I’m one of those people. There are some of us who do not like it, and that’s okay. Be assured, God knows exactly how you feel because He created you. Whether you are for or against change, know that God is FOR you and is with you every step of the way.
Who can I talk to?
We can talk to our parents, friends, grandparents, etc. … but we can also talk to God. In fact, God wants us to share our heart with Him. If we are feeling upset, He wants to know. If we’re having a good day, He wants to know. If you haven’t yet, now is a great time to start talking with God about all of your thoughts, concerns, and celebrations! He is waiting for you!
You can trust Jesus. Even though everything around us has changed, we can trust that Jesus is with us and that Jesus has a plan. We might not understand the plan right now, but we can trust that He is looking after us and has our best interest in hand. When you start to question your current situation, remember that God sees the big picture. God, help me to trust you.
Joy in the midst of disappointed.
In the last few weeks we’ve all experienced some kind of disappointment, some more than others. Ballgames, trips, school, and birthday parties have all been canceled, which can leave us feeling sad and down. Those feelings are normal, but it’s not okay to dwell on it. God doesn’t want us to focus on what we’ve lost but on everything that He has given. Make a list of 5 things you are grateful for today.
Jesus is Risen
Remember how I told you that the ending was the best part? If you know me, you know I can get really excited. Well, this makes me EXCITED! JESUS IS RISEN! This is why we celebrate Easter. We don’t celebrate Easter because of the colorful eggs, yummy candy, and the fun filled Easter baskets. We celebrate because Jesus is ALIVE. I can’t think of anything better than that!
The Tomb
After Joseph wrapped Jesus’ body in clean linen cloth, he put him in the tomb that he personally “cut out of the rock”. Joseph continues to show incredible honor to Jesus by taking His body and giving Him a proper burial. It’s important that we slow down each and every day and take time to honor Jesus. Think of different ways you can honor Him. Let’s honor Jesus today by stopping and thanking Him for dying on the cross for you and me.
Joseph Wraps Jesus for Burial
Joseph showed Jesus the utmost respect by wrapping His body in clean linen cloth. Respect is important to Jesus. We need to respect our parents, teachers, grandparents, and even Jesus. The way we respect Jesus is by confessing with our mouth that He is God. We can also show Him respect through having a relationship with Him. We can be with Him every day by praying, reading His Word, and obeying Him.
A Solider Pierces Jesus’ Side
“It was finished”, Jesus said as He took his last breath. His tragic death on the cross was over, the end. But wait, that isn’t the end of the story…in fact, it’s just the beginning. We are just now getting to the good part. I won’t spoil it, but you must keep reading. Like a good book, the ending is the best part!
Casting Lots
Have you ever had someone take something of yours that didn’t belong to them? Jesus did. Not only did they take His things, but they sold them. Jesus has been through a lot; His friend betrayed Him, His friends fell asleep in the garden, people made fun of Him, the list goes on and on. If all of this had happened to me, I would have considered giving up. But not Jesus. He obeyed God no matter what. I want to obey like Jesus obeyed.
