“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:8-9

I have found that most long-term healing in my life takes time.  The quick fixes do not seem to last, and the easy solutions do not seem to create lasting change.  I have had plenty of issues to work on in my life:  an addiction needing kicked, a marriage needing work, and unhealthy behaviors needing rehabilitated.  None of them changed at the pace I wanted (or in the manner I wanted).

But God is faithful.  He is the ultimate healer.  His word is true and applicable. And God’s timing is perfect.  Be patient with yourself and with God.  Remember that in being still, you can come to know God better.  And remind yourself that in waiting with him, He will renew your strength.
