Good salesmen will tell you that people buy benefits, not products. So, a car salesman isn’t trying to sell you a sculptured hunk of metal, plastic, and glass. Instead, they sell you on the safety, comfort, dependability, reliability…the benefits of owning the vehicle.
In this text in Romans, Paul is selling the fact that the benefit of freedom in Christ is holiness. We accept Christ as our Savior, experience freedom from sin, and receive the added benefit of holiness. Holy living means that our lives are set apart, reserved to give glory to God. It is a lifestyle of discipline, focus, and righteous living.
These attributes do not come naturally to us, but they are a significant benefit we reap by following Jesus wholeheartedly. Pursue holiness.
