"But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi," says the Lord Almighty. "So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law."
Malachi 2:8-9

We all have circles of influence that God has entrusted us with. No matter the size of that circle, God has compelled us to honor and keep his covenants. By doing so, we lead others in a way that declares the goodness of the Lord. However, when we do not, we can lead others into stumbling by modeling a life of disobedience.

I’m humbled and reminded of the gift that leadership and influence truly are. Here in Malachi, God also gives a clear image of what it looks like when we live selfishly, forsaking God’s covenant. We can find ourselves in a place of loneliness, where trust and relationships are broken. This place can be very lonely and dark, but thanks be to God that He cares enough to offer continued grace. May we be reminded of His goodness today and reflect on the times that He has brought us to a place of restoration for the expansion of His kingdom!
