“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21

This passage always gets me, how about you? Experiencing the many blessings of living in a free and prosperous country, it’s so easy to lose sight of Jesus’ challenge here. We are barraged with a constant onslaught of the latest, greatest thing, regardless of our interests, to tempt us to always want more. These things are not necessarily bad things, but it is easy to become absorbed with attaining them. Proverbs 13:22 though, tells us that it is good for a person to leave their children an inheritance. So what is the answer to building an inheritance for our children, which is a good thing, without being completely consumed by it?

The answer is in verse 21 – “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” When we make Jesus our greatest treasure, it impacts every aspect of our lives, including our wealth. What kind of inheritance and legacy are you building?
