"13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter or your male servant or your female servant, or your ox or your donkey or any of your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates, that your male servant and your female servant may rest as well as you. 15 You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day."
Deuteronomy 5:13-15

Honoring the Sabbath is one of the 10 commandments listed in this chapter. This passage wraps up by saying, “So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” In Matthew 7:14, Jesus says, “But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

God, help us to choose the narrow road that leads to life. Help us not to waiver but to remain steadfast in your truth and your purpose for our life. But more importantly, use us to help others find their way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
