"13 If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; 14 then you shall take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken."
Isaiah 58:13-14

As a little girl, I wanted to do what was right. I wanted to follow the rules and honor my parents. As an adult, the same is now true of my Heavenly Father. I genuinely want to do what’s right in His eyes. I also understand now that peace follows obedience. Not only is my Father delighted by my submission, but it brings me joy to choose His way over my own. The flip side of this is, I’m not perfect. Thankfully my relationship with Him isn’t based on performance and rules but love. When I miss the mark, I still get to experience joy through reconciliation and His unconditional love for me. So, no matter how you flip the coin, joy is waiting on the other side.

Father, thank you for showing me the way. Thank you for the joy I find in serving you. Thank you for catching me when I fall. Help me to honor you with my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
