“It shall be said, ‘Build up, build up, prepare the way, remove every obstruction from my people’s way.’ For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy, ‘I dwell in the high and holy place and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite…I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will lead them and repay them with comfort… Peace, peace, to the far and the near says the Lord; and I will heal them.’”
Isaiah 57:14-15,18-19 NRSV

Sunday, Pastor Shawn gave wise counsel for anyone contemplating or facing divorce, and gave us steps to consider before going through with that decision. However, if you’re already struggling through the aftermath of the dissolution of your marriage, there is so much hope in Jesus. Divorce may be a recent trauma or an old unhealed wound. Wounds tend to fester when not treated properly. The pain from it can lead us down a path of anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, rejection, abandonment, and hopelessness to name a few. But in Christ, we have a Healer who wants to apply balm to our wounds and clear our path of obstacles to our restoration. It can be work, trusting Him can be hard, but oh so worth it. Father I ask that you would draw your sons and daughters close. Help them to choose to trust your healing touch, so that they can move forward with hope and peace towards the future you have for them. Give them courage to reach out in Jesus name, amen.
