Who are the friends in your life who have stood by you through the easy times and the hard? Are there friends whose affections & closeness are as much as or more than even blood relatives? What a blessing it is to have people like that throughout your life! I’ve recently been reminded how valuable it is to have people around you who, even in their own imperfections, love and support you through all circumstances. They consistently point you back to God, and they’re willing to go into the messy and unknown with you.
In the same way, how beautiful is it that part of how we fulfill who God made us to be is by standing with others in their time of adversity. As we receive comfort, peace, and safety from God first and then others, we are called to do the same for those around us. Is there someone around you going through a difficult time right now? How can you be a friend for them that “loves at all times,” and stands with them in adversity?
Father God, help us see those around us with clear and selfless eyes. Thank you for the way you have loved us and stood with us through it all.
