"Desire without knowledge is not good— how much more will hasty feet miss the way! A person’s own folly leads to their ruin, yet their heart rages against the Lord."
Psalm 19:2-3
"When tempted, no one should say, 'God is tempting me.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death."
James 1:13-15

My biggest enemy is my ego. When I am abiding in Jesus Christ and walking in His light, the variety of forms with which my ego can disguise itself in order to distract me are seemingly infinite. Even though I know they are only illusions, the source of their power is always residing within me as a desire. It may simply be my curiosity or inquisitiveness for discovering something interesting and intriguing, but the objects of my diversion are always of this world. I pray for a pure heart so that these seductive and fascinating thoughts have nothing to which they can attach themselves and draw me away from my conscious awareness of the Lord’s presence.
