In my youth I had a problem planning. My shortsightedness was primarily due to my desire for instant gratification of pleasure. The decisions I made were based on what was going to happen in the next few minutes or hours instead of the rest of my life.
When I was forced to make some long range decisions, I evaluated them on the basis of adventure and enjoyment. As I reflect on those choices, I can see where God was already at work in my life, guiding me to find the help I needed to begin my journey with Him.
As I began to have a greater understanding of His kingdom, my vision was transformed from making rash decisions to viewing almost everything from an eternal perspective. I am so grateful that the Lord was there all along, even in my foolishness, to make everything work together for good.
