"13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory."
Ephesians 1:13-14

Do you remember when you first heard the Gospel? When you realized that by believing in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus you would be saved from the eternal consequences of your sin and the brokenness of this world? Perhaps it was more like a process than a specific moment in your life. Either way, what was that like for you? Maybe, you have yet to give your life to Jesus and today is the day that you believe in Jesus as your savior, Lord, and only hope.

Paul here says that when we believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ we are simultaneously sealed with the Holy Spirit that reminds us of who we are in Christ. We are no longer defined by what we have done, but by what Jesus has done for us. And Paul writes that the Holy Spirit is our guarantee until Jesus comes back to make all things new. So today, let’s believe in Jesus and remember that He is with us through the Holy Spirit. He never leaves us, never forsakes, and is always for us.
