“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:28-33

When I married my wife I loved her. My love, however, was coming from a way of thinking that put her needs and desires after mine. If they conflicted, I did my best to make sure that I got my way. As a result, I was insensitive to her.

It was the same way with the Lord. I always sought to satisfy my cravings and wishes and if they happened to coincide with His, it was always unplanned.

This way of reasoning was continually giving rise to negative consequences that caused tremendous instability to my marriage.

I am exceedingly grateful that God sent a man into my life who not only understood my predicament, but also knew how to guide me towards a relationship with Jesus Christ.

It was a glorious day for my family and me when I began to learn how to put Him first in my life. He gave me a new way to live that has brought tremendous stability to my home and a love for Him, my family and friends that was missing when I lived for myself.

I pray that He won’t let me ever forget where He brought me from so that I will always, in every situation, appreciate how wonderful it is to follow Jesus.
