"Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful."
Mark 4:18-19

The third type of soil represents an individual who hears God’s word, receives it, but then it becomes choked out by the deceitfulness of the world. Our lives are full! Full of work, full of commitments, full of social obligations, full of demands, full of responsibility. Without wisdom and discretion, our lives can become so full that they are cluttered by the cares of the world.

We become distracted by the things we deem important, and we become distracted from what God says is important. Proverbs 4:25 states, “Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.” God desires to have our attention and affection. He wants US. What in your life is God asking you to set aside?
