Growing up, I was blessed with a family that knew God and laid a foundation of faith for me to build upon. I can remember being a young girl and feeling a closeness to God. Both of which are gifts! As I began to hear other people’s stories, comparison and insecurity crept in, causing me to feel timid about speaking about God’s faithfulness. I recognized the gift I had yet felt shameful to share it. Those insecurities (and the highs/lows of life) unraveled into thoughts that sounded like: “that’s not enough,” “if only you had something more valuable to share..” etc. Thankfully, God, in His sovereignty, stepped in with compassion and taught me the significance of my story. I know what a gift it is to grow up in a family that loves God and I know what it’s like to walk through dark valleys. Whatever story God is authoring through your life, it has a purpose. It has meaning. May the verse above bring comfort and strength as we go out as His witnesses.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
