"Blessed is the one whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night."
Psalm 1:2

I have learned over my years of walking with the Lord that He has many ways of communicating with me, but without a doubt, the primary way that He speaks is through Scripture. In the beginning of my journey with Him, many of the verses I read brought conviction and required me to make changes in my life. The result of repentance was always followed by a greater understanding of the Lord and His Kingdom. It didn’t take very long to discover that the commands and directives of Scripture are not burdensome. Rather, they lift the burden of sin and rebellion. I discovered that they lighten the load that I had been carrying.

A few months after I started following Jesus, I was encouraged to begin memorizing Scripture. This enhanced my prayer life, gave me encouraging words to share with others, and provided tremendous nourishment for my soul. One of the benefits of hiding God’s word in my heart was the freedom to meditate on it day and night wherever I was. That spiritual discipline has brought tremendous delight to my thoughts and perspectives about the events that are going on in my life. By seeing my life situations through the principles and truths of Scripture, I am able to have greater vision for what is happening around me.

The greatest blessing of all is the way my faith has developed as I memorize more and more Scripture. Some of the promises God has given me are yet to be realized, but because of His assurances that are enabling me to trust Him more and more, I have tremendous hope for the future.
