This scripture is often one of the first that followers of Christ love to share with a new believer. It is profound in that it highlights the reality of the spiritual transaction that just took place. The believer just crossed over from the kingdom of darkness to the glorious citizenship of heaven. The old is gone…every debt of sin from their past and future was cancelled by the precious blood of Jesus. Remember the wonder you felt when you first surrendered your life to Christ and the burden of sin was lifted from your shoulders? Those early days as a baby believer are full of wonder and awe. When the enemy tries to weight you down with shame and regret, remind yourself of this verse. You are still and forever that new creation! Be filled afresh each day with the wonder and awe of God and His wonderful plan of redemption propelled by His love for you.
