“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:18

Occasionally we’ll hear some semblance of the phrase “Time sure does fly!”.  I too have marveled at how quickly the years have passed. The Word compares our lives to a passing shadow and a mist that quickly appears and vanishes. One of CCC’s earliest intercessors, Grace Tobleman, use to explain this perplexing wonder saying that it’s because we’re created as an eternal being … that God “set eternity in our hearts” (Ecc. 3:11) and that our physical life on earth seems quick because it is quick, compared to the eternity we’ll spend in heaven. Grace is now enjoying that eternity. It’s so easy to be distracted by the momentary conditions of our brief time here. When our eyes are fixed on the Lord, we aren’t shaken by any of the temporary circumstances in our life or world today because He gives us His eternal perspective. We can make that choice daily to trust Him in all things and keep our eyes fixed on Him. Is there any area in your life today where you need to readjust your focus to regain heaven’s vantage point?
