One of the overarching themes that God kindly reminds me of is His sovereignty. God has a plan, knows the plan, and knows the timing of the plan. Just like the grass and the flowers— our life here on earth is finite. When I reflect on these verses written in the book of Isaiah, I see God’s sovereignty in His purposeful creation. He uses tangible life applications to teach us deep spiritual truths. The next time you find yourself in trouble or despair or hardship, rest in remembering that even the flowers and grass wither, but the word of God stands forever.
“A voice said, “Shout!” I asked, “What should I shout?” “Shout that people are like the grass. Their beauty fades as quickly as the flowers in a field. The grass withers and the flowers fade beneath the breath of the Lord. And so it is with people. The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.””
Isaiah 40:6-8
