“Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
Romans 8:23-25

This passage is all about finding hope in the middle of the unknown. Paul is saying here that just because we have faith in who the Lord is, doesn’t mean we won’t have difficulties. But in the middle of those difficulties, we can find hope because we have been given the Holy Spirit. Moreover, we can also have hope because of the promised eternity we will have with God.

This passage gives me hope because I know God is always with me. In every struggle of life, the Lord walks with me. Through hardships, through pain, through grief, the Lord Is near. Walking with the Lord does not exclude me from the hard stuff of this world. I can have hope in all things because I know God will use everything to his glory. I have hope because I know that on the other side of all the hardship of this life is eternity with the Father.
