I really like how the NLT translates this scripture. Basically, without God’s Word and guidance of the Holy Spirit we are lost. Having very clear guidelines allow us to grow and thrive into the individuals God created us to be. A few years back my husband wrote out a vision statement for our family. That statement is now displayed above our fireplace, in our living room, as a daily reminder of how we desire for our family to live.It’s the acronym for the word LIFE…

Now, I wish I could say that we lived by this perfectly, but we don’t! If we did, we probably wouldn’t need this reminder staring us in the face. We are imperfect people striving to be more like Jesus every day. But I will say that it is a very helpful tool for when we get off track. Just the other day one of our kids said something hurtful to their sibling, so I had them read our vision statement as a reminder of how we need to act. Let’s be people, families, husbands, wives, children that accept divine guidance!
