This Psalm has always been a great encouragement to me. It is one of the first passages I memorized as a young Christian because it gives me the guidance I need for true prosperity. It has always encouraged me to meditate on Scripture and makes it very clear that my life is not governed by circumstances. While it is true that God speaks clearly through my life situations, they are not where I find the stability I need for a balanced life in Christ.
As a young Christian, I heard a minister say, “Life is never as good as it seems, nor is it ever as bad as it appears.” Change is constant, and we need to be prepared for it. The best way is to walk in the counsel of godly people, fellowship with faithful people, and walk humbly with the Lord as He guides us. This will put us in a position to yield fruit in its proper season and prosper in all we do.
I’m grateful to be a part of a church that offers me so many opportunities to fellowship with other people who love the Lord. We’re not perfect, but we do follow a perfect savior who helps us all in our weaknesses and meets our true needs continually. It is my prayer that we will all grow to become a mature body of Christ that shines brightly like a city built on a hill.
