Most of us have heard or used the expression “uphill both ways” with descriptions of inclement weather conditions attached. Maybe it’s just me, but life situations can sure feel that way sometimes. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” People are not the enemy; the enemy is the enemy. As John teaches us throughout this book, when we know Jesus, we have victory. We are loved, we know the Light, and we have everlasting victory. Pause before continuing your day to recognize that God is in control.
“For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.”
