As we dive in to a new teaching series this summer walking through the Gospel of Mark, the devotional writing team will be pulling verses to highlight and focus on each day. I love reading the verses above. I feel like I can picture the setting, the surroundings, and imagine the majesty of the heavens splitting apart. While God’s words “you are dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy” are directed at Jesus, each time I read those words they seem to wash over me just the same. When life gets heavy or weary or hard, they are words I return to. How wonderful to be dearly loved and bring great joy to the Author of Life. I pray that as you read these words, they speak to deep places of your soul reminding you just how loved you are.
“As Jesus came up out of the water, he saw the heavens splitting apart and the Holy Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me great joy.””
Mark 1:10-11
