One of the deceptive things I have discovered about my mind is that perceived reality can be more powerful than actual fact. Many times, without trying to imagine negative thoughts, they enter my mind. Then, if I am not aware of what is happening, they form a chain of judgments that lead to more disturbing assumptions that don’t have anything to do with the truth. I am so grateful that just a simple turn in the Lord’s direction always begins the way of escape and it isn’t long before I am back in harmony with Him. The humor of it all, as I become the observer of the lies, is entertaining and amusing. I am so grateful that the longer I walk with Him, the less time I must endure the anxiety of my unhealthy imagination. I now realize that simply the awareness of His presence enables me to live in freedom from the illusions of darkness.
