I love the reverse nature in the structure of these verses. Right before this, verse 13 says, “for, ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” How did you come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ? My guess is that you “called on the name of the Lord” after believing in Him. And you believed in Him after you heard about Him. And you heard about God because someone preached or shared who He is with you. And they told you about God because they were sent out. I’m so thankful for the people who were sent out and preached to me, who gave me the opportunity to believe and call on the name of the Lord. Who knows what God will do as we’re each sent out to give others the same opportunity. How beautiful are the feet of those who are sent out in His name!
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
