“We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us – and we should lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refuses to help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” 1 John 3:16-18
Jesus’ absolute resolve in redeeming us by enduring the brutality of the cross is the most amazing example of pure love and devotion that there is. Pure love and devotion to you and to me… it’s overwhelming to contemplate, isn’t it? His pure devotion to us longs for ours in return.
Lord Jesus, we are simply in awe of Your love. How can we not offer ourselves to be poured out in love for others in light of all You have done for us? By the power of the Holy Spirit, we lay down our rights, our possessions, our comforts. Father, lead us in love for others. Show us your most excellent way Lord in Jesus’ name, amen.
