Have you ever felt desperate and deeply upset with a circumstance in your life? Perhaps you feel afflicted and downcast this very day. Well, the good news is that God doesn’t leave us to our own accord in the midst of chaos. He came to rescue us from the depravity of our sin-laced reality. In these verses, Jeremiah flips the script, looks up, and points to the hope we have God. The truth is that the circumstances around us do not need to dictate where our hope is. Thanks to Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we can be filled with hope because the love of God never ends. His love is available to us every morning. The question is, are we willing to pause and call to mind that God is love.
“Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall. My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me.”
Lamentations 3:19-20
“But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:21-23
