This passage always gets me. Seriously…an heir?! It’s so humbling to think that our God, Creator of all things, the Alpha and Omega, the Holy One, Author of Life, Eternal Father, King of Kings, Ancient of Days, Our Banner, Redeemer, Savior, Prince of Peace, Deliverer and so many more…that the only true God created me, breathed His life into me and then made me an heir to His kingdom! I am freed from the weight of all bondage and filled with His Spirit to guide me in all things. Most recently, He has proven Himself as Faithful One in my life and that of my loved ones. Who has the Lord been to you lately? Let’s be sure to take some time to thank Him for it. He is so worthy.
“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child, and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”
