“Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.””
1 Chronicles 29:13-14
“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!”
Psalm 107:1

Throughout the week, I’ve been reminded that everything comes from God. Yet despite my best efforts, I’m convicted of how infrequently I thank God for all that He’s provided for me. I wouldn’t want to admit it out loud, but I get somewhat accustomed to His goodness or start to let my pride start to convince me it’s somewhat expected. After my hard work, I “earned” or “deserved” the many blessings I’ve received. I hope to instead have more of a posture like David’s in 1 Chronicles 29, as the Israelites acknowledged the beautiful temple they had just built unto God was simply giving back in a small way what He had already provided for them.

Lord, please help me see the many blessings You’ve provided in my life. Please help me grow in a posture of humility and gratitude. May I rely on You for everything, gratefully recognizing Your goodness in all things.
