As we celebrate with loved ones this week, I’m aware that holidays can sometimes be more about grief and comfort than ease and joy. If that’s us today, we can be honest with and find solace in “the God of all comfort.”
God recognizes our pain and delight, peace and anxiety, fear and trust. Not only does He see us, but His comfort involves closeness and connection. Even when we want to move away from disappointments and difficulties, God moves in.
No matter if this week has made it easy to jump for joy with gratitude or if grief and unmet expectations have clouded our ability to see how God is at work, I hope we can lean into God’s comfort, which meets us right where we are and extends to those around us.
