This verse from Daniel is the continuation of the scripture from yesterday. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego’s response in the face of life and death has always been one that has stood out to me. Many times I can base my faith and hope on what I’m receiving in return. However, these verses remind me to believe and pray instead, from the knowledge of God’s faithfulness and goodness, being rooted in His promises of lovingkindness towards us. This reminder helps me go deeper beyond just presenting my requests to God, but also submitting to His will in every request and situation. Today I am reminded that God has the power to give us everything we could ever ask for or imagine, and yet in His goodness, He gives for the sake of our best interest, His will, and His glory. So, “even if he does not,” I choose to remain with Him and under His covering upon my life.
“But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
Daniel 3:18
“And [Jesus] went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.’”
Matthew 26:39
