"The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the LORD God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side[e] of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life."
Genesis 3:21-24
"But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!"
Romans 5:15

Reflecting on Genesis 3:21-24, we see a moment where God provides for Adam and Eve even after they’ve sinned. God makes garments for them, clothing them in their vulnerable, broken state. This action foreshadows His ultimate provision of grace—a powerful act of love and mercy. It’s easy to gloss over this, but imagine being Adam or Eve, aware of your own brokenness, and now covered by God Himself. He doesn’t cast them away without care; instead, He protects and provides, even in their weakness.

In Romans 5:15, Paul reminds us that through one man, Adam, sin entered the world, but through Jesus, a gift of grace is given to all. Just as God covered Adam and Eve, Jesus covers us—not just externally but fully, through His sacrifice. It’s personal. God didn’t leave us to manage the weight of sin on our own but offered a way to be completely covered and redeemed.

Think about the moments in your life where you’ve felt unworthy, caught in your own mistakes. How often do you beat yourself up or assume you’re alone in your struggles? Instead, what would it look like to let God’s grace “clothe” you in those moments? He offers forgiveness, and He knows our vulnerabilities. Just as He clothed Adam and Eve, He clothes us with mercy, inviting us to come to Him boldly to His throne of grace in our time of need.

Today, take a moment to be reminded of and rest in His promise. We can be confident that God forgives us when we ask, even if it’s time and time again. There is no limit to God’s grace.
