4 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says to all those I carried into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5 “Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. 7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Jeremiah 29:4-7

A heart fully submitted to Jesus finds rest and peace. When I try to control my circumstance, I end up striving. When I release control, I receive His peace. When I choose my way over His, I feel restless. When I choose His way over mine, I feel content. When I ignore His Word and His instruction, I feel lost. When I obey His Word, it steadies my heart. When I put my hope in the physical realm, my foundation feels unstable. When I put my trust in Him, I feel grounded. When I look for happiness in the things of this world, I feel discontent. When I look for contentment in Him, I find happiness.

As I daily work out my relationship with Jesus, I fight to have a fully submitted heart, and on the days I get off track, I’m thankful for God’s sweet grace and conviction getting me back on track. Lord, show us the areas in our life that aren’t fully submitted to you; help us to release those things.
