"He saved us because of His mercy. It was not because of good deeds we did to be right with Him. He saved us through the washing that made us new people through the Holy Spirit. God poured out richly upon us that Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ our Savior."
Titus 3:5-7

My resurrection story began at age 15 when I was saved at a student retreat. Unfortunately, that isn’t when He became my Lord and Savior. It was at age 20 when I was in college at Southwest Texas State and living the life of the world. It was a carefree, wreckless, extremely fun, and very much a partying-type lifestyle. I was happy, I thought, but I always had the tugging of the Holy Spirit (which I tried to ignore). It was with my boyfriend when I became pregnant that the Lord got my attention. It was in a park that I literally turned the switch from my current lifestyle to the life the Lord wanted for me.

I said goodbye to things that I thought were so fun and began a life that has been rewarding and still fun with my Jesus. In a park that day, after we received the news, my boyfriend and I gave our hearts back to Jesus. The Lord gave me immediate peace and freedom. It was amazing and a blessing that saved me. The Lord was so merciful, and I did not deserve it. I was a new person through the Holy Spirit.

This was the beginning of a new journey. It was difficult with many obstacles, but God…God put people into my life that were kind, encouraging, and supportive. They did not judge me; they loved me. God used these people to help me grow in my faith and understand that God loved me and forgave me despite my past. The Lord used these godly people to help me realize that God wanted to use me for His glory. The Lord saved me from my own destruction with such love and mercy. I will be eternally grateful to Him, my Savior.
