When I have an expectation that something is supposed to occur a certain way, I am setting myself up for disappointment if the event doesn’t happen as I anticipated. Depending on the significance of the event, my letdown is anywhere from mild to severe.
However, when I trust God and desire to please Him in every situation, I am preparing myself to have a positive experience no matter what the outcome may be. When negative things occur, He is able to use them as opportunities for my good. No matter how unpleasant they may be, I am never separated from Him because I can maintain my communion with the Lord in any situation.
It is my earnest prayer that God will help me to continually keep my eyes on Jesus Christ and follow His example, no matter what the circumstances are that surround me.
