God has so many ways of testing me; always using forms of adversity from without to expose hidden areas of my heart that still have impure desires and motives. All of the impurities are evident to Him because He knows immediately when I have wandered away from my conscious awareness of His presence. All He has to do is let me get my fill of whatever is distracting me and I realize I am drifting away from Him. I am grateful that He is showing me those areas of my life that still need to change. When I repent and confess my sin, I am able to return to abiding in His presence again and, even in the most difficult circumstances, I experience His peace and joy. I thank God for His faithfulness, even when I stray away.
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139:23-24
“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever–increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
2 Corinthians 3:18
