“Why doesn’t everyone just do what I say? Why doesn’t anyone do what I say?” I’m about ready to give up on the power of instruction. Yes, I’ll keep teaching, as God leads, but I seriously wonder how much effect it has on my friends, children, grandchildren, etc. I can keep saying the words…yada yada yada…but is there another option?
The apostle Paul seemed to be better at instructing than I am. Duh. But when he sent a letter to his understudy, Timothy, he encouraged a superior form of influence. Don’t let anyone look down you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. I Timothy 4:12
Maybe the greatest inspiration, motivation and encouragement I can pass on to those I love is simply (maybe profoundly) to yield completely to God’s transformation so as to live in the joy of the life He offers, and to demonstrate authentic trust in Him for everything.
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are old, Vic, but set an example…”
