There are so many places that we can try to look to for our guidance, motivation, and security. And yet, when we look to anything other than God, we are connecting to empty sources. False gods who often make big promises, with no delivery. On the contrary, these verses remind us of our God who we can rely on. No other source can compare with Him. How true it is that we could spend the rest of our lives speaking to what God has done, and it still wouldn’t be enough. When we turn to Him, we can be confident that He always comes through and His plans never fall apart.
I’m reminded that the direction of our gaze matters. Where is the first place I turn in distress or in need? Is it a quick fix or a distraction? Or is it to the God of Wonders? In all things, I want to trust in Him, in His plans and His way and His timing.
God, alert me when I’m looking to other sources aside from you. Show me how to put deeper trust in you, to trust you in all things, not just in the things I’m comfortable in letting go of. I thank you for Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice, that allows me to trust even my salvation into your hands. Give me opportunities to speak of everything that you’ve done in my life. The ways that you have come through and shown yourself to be trustworthy. Let our words always point to the great deeds that you’ve done and the “not yet” things that we are still waiting on. We trust you and pray all of this in your name Jesus, amen.
