“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139:23-24

What a beautiful prayer to the Lord – David, on the heels of begging God to slay the wicked in his midst, acknowledges his own need for a heart check from him.

We tend to go to God with our needs and with intercession for others. When we know we’ve blown it with a sin issue, we go to him in repentance. But oftentimes, when we think “we’re good”, we don’t actually take the time to ask God to examine our hearts. When we do that, he often will reveal little heart sins that left unattended, can weaken our walk with God, and this impacts those around us. We may be so busy going about our day, that we don’t recognize the issue is there…but God does. He knows the hidden things of our heart and we can trust him to purify it, if we’ll give him the time and access. Let us go to our Bridegroom and sit in his presence…
