"3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved."
Ephesians 1:3-6

If we look closely, the theme of adoption is prevalent throughout the Bible. Moses was adopted by Pharoah’s daughter. Esther was adopted by her cousin Mordecai. Jesus was adopted by Joseph. Then, Jesus adopted us. Before the beginning of time, God knew that when given the choice, we would not choose Him. So, through Jesus, He shows us how he chose us.

Father, today we praise you for choosing us! Before we ever took a step, even before we took our first breath, you chose us and adopted us as your own. I pray for this reality to sink into our innermost being. May we believe that we are your chosen sons and daughters. May we live in light of this reality today. I pray for Your strength to live holy and blameless lives.
