"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:14-16

Have you ever been to a lighthouse? Lighthouses are typically towers or buildings designed to emit light and to serve as beacons to mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous rocks, and safe entries to harbors. Countless ship captains over centuries would tell you that the light from a lighthouse had saved their vessel and crew from destruction and got them home safely.

I think this is a good image for us. As Christians, we are called:
– to emit light that points others to the safety of Jesus
– to reflect his love for them
– to remind them of his truths that help them avoid the dangers of this world

You are a child of God. His light is in you. You reflect his truth, his love, and his glory. Live life wholeheartedly. Live it fully. Use your gifts to serve him by doing good things for the people around you. You may be the first “Jesus” some people see. Be bold, be faithful, and be bright.
