Just as my understanding of God and His Kingdom changes as I grow spiritually, my understanding of scripture also changes. I used to think that if I delighted myself in Him, then He would give me what I wanted. Today I see it much differently. If I delight myself in Him, then He will put His desires in my heart. This is one of the primary ways that He guides me. I find great pleasure by consciously living in His presence. He is always with me but sometimes I get distracted. I don’t like it when I get preoccupied with other things but now I realize that my ego loves darkness rather than light. This constant tension doesn’t bother me any longer because I understand what is happening. When I used to fight it, the very act of struggling kept my attention on the intrusion of our communion instead of Him. It is my prayer that when distractions come, He will guide me back to my primary purpose of consciously living in His presence.
"Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:4
