My body is a miracle. Inside of me there are many organs and systems that I don’t understand and hardly ever think about, yet they go on functioning without any conscious help from me. The same is true about all living organisms. In numerous ways, I am such a small, insignificant part of the environment and have practically no influence over any of it. Yet, in God’s eternal plan, He reached down and drew me to Himself. That, in and of itself, gives me all of the significance I need. Just knowing that I am an object of His love, mercy and grace gives tremendous meaning to my life. I don’t need to do anything more than believe in Him, trust Him with my life and everything falls into place and functions the way He wants it to without any assistance from me. I am so grateful that the greatest claim I have, as one of His children, is that I know Him progressively more intimately every day of my life. There is nothing more meaningful than that.
“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139:14
“What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.”
Philippians 3:8-9
