"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."
1 Timothy 1:15-17

I believe it takes really living out the same humility and confidence as Paul in order to fully accept God’s redemptive love for us. Pride can keep us from experiencing and displaying the great mercy that God has shown in our lives as an example for others. When people look at our lives, do we let them see our shortcomings and the immense patience God has shown in order to pursue and love us the way He does unconditionally?

I love the apostle Paul’s reasoning, “I was the worst of any sinner. So God showed me mercy to be an example of how far God can bring someone.” I wonder how this would impact our mindset on how to love others this season. Instead of trying to change the people around us or help them see how much sin they need redemption from, what if we made ourselves low and became an example of just how far God can bring someone? An attitude of knowing that if He can redeem me, He surely can redeem you! If He can love me unconditionally, regardless of what I do or don’t do for Him, He can do the same for you. If Christ’s sacrifice fully paid for my sin, then you’re covered too!

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever! Amen.
